BETE NOIRE: Team Science Plotting Post!
This is the official Team Science plotting post. There will be weekly comment threads posted in order to discuss who's hanging around the lab, who's conspicuously absent, who's working on what and who might be about to blow up the city.
This is a place to bounce ideas off each other, handwave the boring/unimportant stuff, and sort out the interesting stuff so we can log it!
A new thread will be posted after each week's game-wide event is announced in the [STATE OF THE GAME].
PLEASE TRACK THIS POST
so you can see when new threads are posted.

FIRST THREAD! Roll call.
Some people got brought into the group via the intro log, BUT that's not necessary. If didn't do that and you want your character to be involved already, say so and we'll work out a handwave-y thing.

PLOTTING THREAD - June 6 - June 12
-What is your character up to this week that would take place in the Science Cave and/or be relevant to Team Science's goals?
-Since this is our first plotting thread: what's your character been up to since the team first formed?
-This week's event is Attraction. Probably not overly relevant for Team Science, but if there's anything you can think of that would effect goings-on, go for it.

But this week she might stop by the Science Cave to avoid said drama. Maybe drag Topher along so he has something to do?
Topher
He doesn't know about the Science team or cave but maybe he'll stumble upon it somehow. Had a talk with Rush which at least gave him some details of how the food shortage was caused. He possibly would get involved in trying to help solve the mystery of disrupted travel IF some people were openly talking about it.
Topher needs a job or at least some way to get some cash. Otherwise he's gonna be a bum at the mansion until further notice.
The Doctor / The Huon Project
He's also been working to update the computers. By hand. Literally taking them apart and putting them back together in a way that makes them incredibly advanced. It's intensive work, and he was distracted for a while during the hunger event, so I'm gonna say he's only managed to update one of them so far.
ALSO. In the last week, he's been getting moodier and spending more time in the lab, tinkering with things. Starting today, he'll even have acquired a cot so he can sleep in the lab - so he doesn't have to go home and see his window.
AND THAT'S ALL I HAD IN MIND FOR HIM *phew*

PLOTTING THREAD: June 13 - June 19
This week's event is Compulsion. So, anyone got crazy theories they won't be able to resist testing?
The Doctor
The Huon Project - it was decided that they should at least have the design for the scanner, yes? Which means we need to decide how it actually scans... and whether it starts being built this week, or if everyone is too busy with the border crisis. Speaking of...
There are a couple of posts now where team members can start discussing how to open up the border again. The Jack post showed up first, but how hilarious would it be if we all just stormed and took over Lance's post with technobabble?

Team Science is now down a member (sadfais for Scott), but potentially up three more! (Topher Brink, Toshiko Sato and Daniel Jackson.) Welcome to the new folks ^^ If the muns would like, we can handwave them being briefed on the Huon Project and the attempts to solve the barrier crisis.

PLOTTING THREAD: July 11 - July 17
NEW MEMBERS!
Romana, Lance Blackthorn, Pasha Chekov, and Alice Morgan have by now all been invited to stay on and keep working on projects, either those already in progress or ones they want to initiate themselves.
The Huon Project: Methinks it's about time the scanner gets to work. By the end of the week, perhaps on Sunday, a scan will finally be run. This will likely be handwaved.
Brainswap Event? There is a potential for a brainswap event in the future, stemming from Team Science's activities. Topher is likely to be the main player in this, and pending mod approval, it may go down in mid-late August.
Oh, and this week's event is Contentment.
Post any ideas/input/evil laughs below!

PLOTTING THREAD July 18 - July 24
The brainswap plot idea has been submitted to the mods and is pending approval.
ALSO A POST IS UP. Speaking of said Huon Project. And it's OPEN to all current team members! Come stir up some in-game plotting =3
PLOTTING THREAD August 1 - August 7
The brainswap plot was approved, as y'all likely know =3 A date that got thrown around for the start of it was August 20th. I was initially saying 4-6 weeks for the duration, but at least one person seemed to think that was a little long... what about 3-4 weeks? I think folks should still have enough time to play around thoroughly with the swap.
Also, Huon stuff! Folks is working to figure out a way to extract the Huon particles following people around without hurting the person in question. Any volunteers to be a lab rat? *glances at Jack Harkness*

Re-Thinking Team Science (and this post)
Mini-plots? And the timing of plotting threads.
When Shawna and I first conceived of Team Science, it was suggested that the group could be responsible for all kinds of shenanigans within the city (the brainswap being an obvious example). However, with all the player plots that are coming in from other sources, future opportunities may be few and far between.
With this in mind, maybe once a week is too often for plotting threads. Science moves slowly, after all, and the kinds of fuck-ups that would cause large scale plot to happen shouldn't be happening too often. What would y'all think of changing the timing to once every two weeks? Or even once a month?
Wiki
I've had a few people come to me over Plurk asking questions about the lab. An easy way to deal with this in the future would be to make a wiki page for the location - which would also help make Team Science more "official" and more accessible to new players & characters. Shawna, we can bang out the details either here or over AIM.
The ultimate goal
For my own personal plotting reasons (and again, for purposes of large-scale shenanigans) I'd still like the team to eventually come up with something that theoretically could get trapped people out of the city... and have it work for about five minutes before going kaflooey. Much of the work that goes into this can get handwaved, but should we set a date for the project being completed? I'm thinking it's still a few months out, at least, but it would give us something to work toward.
no subject
And setting a date to complete that project sounds good! I think it might be nice to know that so we could maybe have a few more attempts backfire in various ways beforehand.

My gosh, it's a Wiki!
Take a look at the pages, ask any questions here. Feel free to edit the "PROJECTS" part of the Team Page! & lemme know if I got anything else wrong or omitted something. I just kinda banged these out.

Plot is a go!
Shortly after Thanksgiving, the Doctor is going to unveil the beginnings of a design he's been working on: a transporter that will use technologies from several different planets/realities to get people out of the city, powered by Huon energy. He'll still need some input from the team, and the machine will take at least a couple of months to build.
That's all I'm gonna say for now =3 But this'll give us something specific to work toward and bounce potential mini-plot ideas off of.

First Dreamwidth Thread, orgy?, and THE GATE
Now that the dust is settling from the move, it's time to reveal more about our upcoming Big Ass Plot, centered on the gate being built to get people out of the city.
The climax should be coming on March 29th - the Doctor's one-year anniversary in Bete Noire, in fact. Nice and poetic because of reasons. Until then, there's still opportunity for some mini-plots centered around the building of the Gate, if anyone has suggestions for those. These can be just about anything, since the science involved is especially pseudosciencey. They don't have to be big and city-wide, either.
Meanwhile, there was talk of an accidental orgy floating around sometime before the holidays, to be set in the area of Valentine's Day. Are people still on for that?
no subject
Also: Romana was discussing with Tosh the possibility of offering lectures on super-advanced physics and other science things to Team Science members. Would anybody else be up for that?

Endgame
As a heads-up, everyone will be welcome to tag into this post in some capacity. That means everybody who's left on the Team - and if your character close CR that they'd want to invite to watch, they're welcome to be there as spectators.
I've been calling this Endgame because I don't really know where the Team is going to go after this. A lot of people are going to get hurt, and there may be in-game repercussions that keep them from continuing to work - at least in the same capacity. I just want to thank you all for helping to bring this plot around. It couldn't have happened without you.
Any questions?
STARKTECH
He wouldn't just up and do this without consulting the others, though - this is just a heads-up that he's going to propose it once Tony makes his Starktech announcement.
